Playing in a GarageBand

Today I spent 10 minutes mucking around with Garageband 2.0.1, part of Apple’s iLife ‘05. It rocks! As someone who has no musical experience (I’ve been told that listening to Thriller doesn’t count), I was able to put together a 2 minute song that wasn’t half bad (in my completely biased opinion).

GarageBand has a whole bunch of premade audio loops of various instruments and drum beats. You arrange these loops in any way you want, changing volume, pitch, instrument, etc.

You can also record live sounds directly into GarageBand (up to 8 tracks simultaneously with a fast enough computer and appropriate music hardware). And you can connect MIDI devices and generate music that way.
