The pitter patter of little feet

I’m a dad! Today I woke up to the pitter patter of 27 little feet.

I’ve been incubating 9 eastern bearded dragon (Pogona barbata) eggs for the last couple of weeks after they were accidentally dug up while someone was turfing their lawn. They can be quite a handful.

While 8 of them had fully emerged from their eggs when I saw them this morning, one was still half in his egg. I left him alone and hoped that he’d make it out by himself. After a little while I decided to give him a helping hand, and eased his shell away from him, making sure that no parts of his shell were stuck to him. He’s still looking a little unhealthy, so I’m keeping him separate from his siblings until he perks up.

Update: I’ve posted some more pictures of the little fellas.
