Great pictures, lovely animals. Over much of the country, night driving is about the only way to find herps (which makes it very tricky to find the strictly diurnal animals, except for afternoon roadkill that hasn't been cleaned up by kites yet). I only found your blog today through a comment you left at Darren Naish's, I'll be back.

What a fabulous lot of reptiles to see in such a short period of time. Your images are stunning. I wouldn't have thought of driving around at night to see snakes, but I'll try that sometime when we visit the semi-arid areas of NW NSW.

Regards

Stewart--it looks like it was an incredible trip! Loved the photos. Great success day and night. . . to say I'm jealous would be an understatement! I did not know about desert tree frogs (Litoria rubella) in Australia--but I have seen pools in southern Utah with hundreds of desert tree frogs (Hyla arenicolor) that are gray, granite-colored instead of reddish sandstone-colored. Interesting convergence in habitat and naming!
