Over much of the country, night driving is about the only way to find herps (which makes it very tricky to find the strictly diurnal animals, except for afternoon roadkill that hasn't been cleaned up by kites yet). Your images are stunning. I wouldn't have thought of driving around at night to see snakes, but I'll try that sometime when we visit the semi-arid areas of NW NSW. Loved the photos. Great success day and night. . . to say I'm jealous would be an understatement! I did not know about desert tree frogs (Litoria rubella) in Australia--but I have seen pools in southern Utah with hundreds of desert tree frogs (Hyla arenicolor) that are gray, granite-colored instead of reddish sandstone-colored.
