Days 14 & 15: Mt Isa and Daly Waters

We drove from Undara to Mt Isa, arriving in the late afternoon. We got a room at the local caravan park, then headed out onto the roads. We only found one animal, but it was an interesting one. We found this pygmy mulga snake (Pseudechis weigeli/Pseudechis pailsus‘) on the side of the road. He was initially quite approachable, but slithered off into the night when I got too close.

The next morning we headed towards Kakadu. We didn’t make it all the way, so we stopped in Daly Waters overnight. It was stinking hot at night, and we managed to find only frogs on the road.

The next day we made it to Kakadu National Park.
