Les: This year’s quest isn’t going so well. We’re already halfway through the year and I’ve only seen 7 new reptile species. I’ll have to get my bum into gear if I want to see 43 new reptile species in the next six months.

Kristie: I’m an ecological consultant. I see lots of animals during the course of my work, but I still take every opportunity to get into the bush on my own time.

Boris: Thanks for adding an international flavour to the comments! I think you just need to go on a holiday to the tropics to get your count up!

Although I have only photographed about 25 skink species, so could probably make up about 100 there.. lol

I always wonder a lot when people tell you that something is “a totally factual account.” It’s too much like a politian saying he has integrity, it gets you worried.

If it weren’t for the fact that Stu is such a terrific photographer (I’ve got nearly the same gear but my photos aren’t half so good or interesting), as well as a first rate story teller, I wouldn’t have believed a word.

Now we’ll be forced to wait for the next exciting instalment, which might just be called 251. Or will there be another clever twist of imagination and we find Stu’s gone whale watching instead? I can’t wait to find out.

Keep up the good work Stu on what is, a most entertaining and even educational site. A real gem.

That sounds like you had a great trip. It proved to be a good distraction from my work and I enjoyed the bird photos.
