After leaving the area around Coen, we travelled south to the Daintree Rainforest. Our main target was a little brown skink on a particular mountain, and we weren’t disappointed. Along the way, we found a few other beasties.
Northern tree snake (Dendrelaphis calligastra). Daintree, Queensland.

Lewis’ shadeskink (Saproscincus lewisi). Daintree, Queensland.
Calyptotis thorntonensis. Daintree, Queensland.
We climbed back down the mountain, packed up the car, and headed back home to Townsville. It was a great end to an epic (but thoroughly exhausting) trip. I got back to Townsville and immediately started preparing for some PhD fieldwork in the Wet Tropics.
